Just put it in boiling water, or saute in butter - it should only take 2-3 minutes.

I'm a murderer, a couple days ago I bought a 4.5 lb lobster, about 18 inches long, and it was too big to be boiled in any pot I had. So the only other thing to be done was to broil it in the oven.

It doesn't seem humane to bake it alive so I have to kill it first some how. I get the biggest cleaver I have, lay the blade parallel to the underside of the body and push down to try to evenly split the body open. Easier said than done, I get maybe a couple millimeters in and now I have a big lobster flailing around knowing I am trying to get it.

So now I decide to take a stabbing approach and I swing into the front side of the body and make a big cut. I have to hurry and cut the entire body all the way down to kill it fast, but at the same time I'm shivering and the lobster is moving and bleeding all over the entire cutting board. It's not the easiest thing to bring yourself to kill such a big animal. :\

Anyways, I baked it for 45 mins and it was pretty good.

I would not reccomend you buy precooked seafood unless you really trust the person selling it. ;)

I will never boil a shelfish alive again after trying to boil some crabs that grabbed onto the side of the pot, partially boiling their little bodies :( The legs were wrigling back and forth, looking into the creature's one good eye as I put him out of his misery was sad :(

You think so? Boiling them seems easier to me than that cutting incident I had to do. :\

Tip with crabs : grab a spoon and whack them on the back of the head between the eyes. It'll kill them instantly. Don't know if this works /w Lobsters.

put like 1 inch of SALT WATER in a big pot, boil the water, when it boiling, put in LIVE lobsters. put brick on lid so they dont kick it off, in about 8 minutes you can eate them, ummmmm so good

you need to cook (boil) them alive, if you kill them first they taste bad for some reason, even if you kill them the second befor you put them it, it fusks something up,

i grew up eateing them, and this is teh only way, well lobster stew is ok also but the boil the lobsters to get the meat for the stew

Haven't you ever heard the lobsters screaming when you boil them alive?

they dont scream they kick, thew will kick the lid off the pot, hence the brick

put the lobster in icewater for a few minutes - it slows them down so much that they don't move and can't feel anything

THEN drop them in boiling saltwater

first off, get one at the supermarket while its young, if its got a toothpick in it its free, next feed it bacon and eggs every day, be sure to take it on a walk a few times a week and give it some lovin. just dont get too atached to it before you murder it and eat it
