Hey all,

She's computer-savvy, loves the internet, thinks constantly about exciting things..... I think she would be a VERY worthwhile member of the forums, and of course, she would also enjoy it immensely. --BUT SHE WON'T BELIEVE ME! She says "There's nothing for me on there!" --But she LOVES for me to tell her about the things going on and such.

And see, we share a connection at our apartment. Her computer is in the guest room, and when I am on, she sits in there and we talk on instant messenger. :) So, I really think she would enjoy sitting in there and posting while I post. Just seems like a cool thing, getting your sig. other involved in the same online community....

So what do I tell her?

Tell her that there are lots of horny guys who want to hit on her. Of course, if you really want her to come then I would make up some lies.

Find a thread with a political topic that she feels strongly about. Get her to register for her own screen name, and have her to post a few times in that thread. After that she should be hooked. Worked on my girlfriend ;)

Seriously, Red has a good point. You show your woman this forum and the next thing you know she'll be calling somebody a "Diesel Bitch".

Covet your time alone.

See, the political thing DOES seem like a good catch.... But I tried that one. Just tonight, she was saying, "I really need to find out where each of the candidates stand on education." --Then she went on to tell me that, since she is a teacher, she can't in good conscience vote for someone who doesn't have a REAL plan for education. If neither one impresses her, sahe says, she will write her own name in on election day. :)
I TOLD HER, probably the best place she can find out about, and find out about places that she can find out about the candidates is RIGHT HERE. I told her that if she got on here and started a topic about it, she would get BOTH SIDES VERY QUICKLY, and it would sink into ad hominem attacks, and then the more prideful members would begin posting cold facts, news stories, and links of every kind. She would find out about the candidates, and would also be IMMENSELY entertained at the same time. WHat could be better? "REALLY?" sahe asked? --Sounding interested.... and that was the end of it. Fizzle. DIDN'T WORK! :( ANy other suggestions?

If cunning linuistics were an option, we wouldn't be spending so much time online, Dennis. :) See, we live together, so sex and computing need not get intermixed.;)

The harder you push, the more she may pull away. Ask yourself why you want her to partake. Does it really matter? What is your need? If, after suggesting it, she is uninterested, leave it at that. It may be a control issue thing and a test to see if you need it. She may have objections that are rational or irrational. It's her choice.

Tell her that there are intelligent women here who could use her support and would appreciate her contribution...
