How to convert S-Video to Composite?

My laptop has an S-Video out port and my TV doesn't unfortunately. It does have composite ones though and I was wondering there was a cable or converter that will let me use my laptop with my TV with little or no loss of signal. Any suggestions? Thanks.

If you use an S-Video switch, you can do it... Sony makes a $49 model and i think theres a cheap Recoton imitation for $29... Their both available at Best Buy and im sure other retail stores as well...

You should be able to do it quite easily with something like this, or if you feel like a project and know how to solder, you can make one yourself, outlined here.

That would work fine as well and is much cheaper. :) In my case, i needed the extra switches though :D

Note, you're only "switching" the input connection type, not the actual connection. I just want to make sure that you don't think you're going to achieve component quality from an s-video cable, as the latter has 4 "channels" in the cable whereas component has 6.

But anyway, if you just want to get the s-video cable to go into the TV video a standard RCA size jack, there are regular simple cables, you don't need any switchers, as my video card even came with one.

Maybe you meant composite?

why do i have the feeling that iamshady has a COMPOSITE connection, and not component.

composite: 1 rca type (all colors and video info on a single line)
svideo: minidin (color and video info on 2 lines)
component: 3 rca type (color and video info on 3 lines)

Me thinks you are right.....what would be the cheepest way for me to get 2 cables for use with my video card (svideo computer -> COMPOSITE VCR & COMPOSITE VCR -> svideo computer)? I really don't want to spend $30 on cables, as I will probably only use it once in a blue moon & wouldn't be concerned with quality anyways.
