How to convert a .tivo file?

How would one convert a .tivo file to an editable format? Does anyone know? Thanks. It currently has a .tivo extension.

my understanding is that the .tivo file contains an mpeg stream and that if you use the tivo directshow filter (which requires your password), you can extract the stream to put into a regular mpeg file. you're free to edit it at that point. graphedit allows you to set up your own directshow filter graphs.
