How to convert a laptop to Polish language?

Greetings,

My g/f is from Poland and is stateside. Over there computers and stuff are really expensive, so she wants to get her family a laptop and send it over to them. Only question is how can I convert it to polish language. Also what really concerns me is the documentation etc. everything (recovery disk) all that will be in English. So if something happens and they have to reformat they won't be able to understand the instructions. Does anyone have any experience with this? Is there a way to buy a "polish" laptop stateside? Or I buy one in Poland and have it shipped to them? I mean even the ac adapter won't work. Any experience with this is appreciated.

When you install Windows, just make sure you install the Eastern European language options. Then just select the Polish regional settings. It's possible that MS or major OEMs are selling stripped down install disks which only have one country options; This may be a problem if you are buying with Windows pre-installed. I don't know how it is in the US. But in the UK, genuine retail install disks have all West, central and Eastern Euro languages (although sometimes you have to specifically select which language packs you want available for the installation).

Laptops have universal power supplies - just replace the power cord, or cut off the US plug and connect a Polish one.

If the documentation is a problem, probably easiest just to ask them to get a friend that speaks English to help them out.

It's possible that it's regional. In Europe, I'm pretty sure that you get all the European languages on the regular retail CD - although, not all get installed by default.

I might be wrong, it's been ages since I've done it and my memory is a bit fuzzy.

I always use a lint free cloth to "polish" my computer.

My sister bought a new Asus laptop recently. The first time she booted it, she was able to choose a language. I don't know if Polish was one of the options.
