How to Connect a Mac OS X to a Projector

When the user wants to present a seminar to a big group, one will require the Mac system to be connected to the projector. You can establish the connection between the Mac and the projector with the help of the VGA adapter. Once connected, the operations performed in the Mac OS X system can be viewed by in the projectors that are connected. Here is how you can connect the Mac to the projector.

Step 1
Ensure the Video Cable is Connected

Firstly, you have to ensure that the video cable is connected to the appropriate port in the projector setup as shown below.

Step 2
Locate the Thunderbolt Port in your Mac

In your Mac system, locate the ‘Thunderbolt Port’ that is highlighted in the image below. This is where the VGA adapter needs to be connected.

Step 3
Connect the VGA Adapter to Thunderbolt Port in your Mac

Next, you need to connect one end of the VGA adapter to the thunderbolt port present in your Mac system. Ensure that the adapter is connected firmly.

Connect the VGA Adapter to the Video Cable

Now you have to make sure that the other end of the VGA adapter gets connected properly to the video cable. This is an important step that helps in the connection of the Mac system to the projector.

Step 5
Connect to the Other End of VGA Adapter

The one shown in the below image is the video cable with broad pins that need to be connected to another end of the VGA adapter. You will find the flashing of the screen in your Mac system.

Step 6
Select ‘System Preferences’

You need to click the 'Apple' icon found at the top left corner of the Mac Screen. From the list of options, select the ‘System Preferences’ option to view system related settings.

Step 7
Select ‘Display’

In the 'System Preferences' window, you will find many options related to hardware, system and software. Select the ‘Display’ option.

Step 8
Select the ‘Arrangement’ Tab

In the Display settings window, select the ‘Arrangement ‘ tab from the three available tabs as shown below.

Step 9
Uncheck ‘Mirror Displays’

You need to uncheck the box for ‘Mirror Displays’. By doing this, you will notice that your Mac system is connected to the Projector.
