OK, got a Sony DAV-S300 DVD system w/5 satellites and a sub for Christmas (OK, actually for building my inlaw's deck this summer). Because the computer and DVD system will be in the same room, I'd like the option of running my mp3 files through the DVD system.

Right now I have a MX300 sound card on a BX mobo. Will likely upgrade to a VIA KT133A board when they arrive and a SB Live card.

For all the audiophiles out there, how would I go about hooking these things up?

Regards,
Craig

X10 had that remote MP3 box that worked same as DVD Anywhere. (actually I think they are the same but just marketed differently) Anyway, the transceiver connects to the back of your sound card and beams the MP3 over to the receiver that connects to your DVD system.

Wow, now we're getting into fancy wireless technology. Wasn't really looking to go that route.

I was assuming there was a daughtercard or something out there for hooking these up. The "Video 2" inputs on the back of the DVD unit have the typical VCR-type Video In and Audio In L/R jacks, as well as an optical jack (meant for a digital satellite receiver). Could any of these be used? It also has an FM coaxial connector.

This isn't the best way but it is the cheapest and easiest... you can get a cord that plugs into they audio out on the computer and splits the signal into the two RCA jacks that you would need... this cord only costs a couple of bucks so give it a try and if it works good (or good enough for you) then keep it if not you can always return it.... i am like positive you could get one at like a radioshack (not sure tho if the big electronics chains would carry them but i would assume so)

the optical could be used, and would provide the best sound quality. the "little red light" is standard on all Sony parts (Ac3) minidisc, Viao, sony clie, etc...all use them. If your sound card has a digital out, you could get a optical connector if you dont have one already and hook those up and straight into the AC3 input on your DVD reciever. Where to get these parts, im not sure, they were built in to my computer and accessories

Hmm, now I have to do research into this. I hate research. I'd much rather you gave me the answer, where to find it, bought it for me, and shipped it to my house.

Hehe, thank you.

If you were all rich and crap monstercable has a mini stereo jack to dual RCA output that costs around $50 and up (depending on length), (but the Radioshack one only costs about $6 and i use it to have Winamp play though the stereo, and it sounds fine)
