how to clean gunk off of CPU?

Hey, I'm going to change my HSF, and was wondering what would the process of cleaning up the TIM gunk off my Duron?

Carefully apply WD-40 (or it's equivalent) to the "gunk" and you'll easily wipe it right off.

The best I found is engine degreaser, use that then finish it off with iso-alcohol, alcohol by itself, isn't too great.

GS27 (the paint scratch remover) worked surprisingly well when I didn't have any wd40 with me.

i use nail polish remover, and then some vodka to wipe any gelatin or other stuff that the nail polish remover leaves behind.
