If you go to any office/electronics store there's monitor cleaners available. I've personally been using Endust for Electronics myself. Sure it's cheaper to make a homemade solution yourself but a spray can has lasted me for years. Water alone doesn't cut it as it doesn't easily remove oils.

i dont think i would use a paper towel as that might scratch it but a window cloth and water is what i use, and it works fine for me.

Warm water or a spray cleaner they sell in any Office supply place for cleaning monitors and LCDs. NEVER spray the monitor - spray a cloth (soft cloth) then use it to clean the screen. You don't want liquids dripping inside.

In a pinch rubbing alchohol is usually safe, but I wouldn't risk it myself. NEVER use an ammonia based product. I've seen ammonia just peel the coating right off.
