How to check your PSU capabilities?

I figure that I can just open the case up and find some label on the PSU but I have everything set up on my desk and I don't want to have to tear it apart yet. I am looking to upgrade my video card and I need to know what I can actually use.

um, pray to yours gods to bless you with the knowledge? Do you know the brand/model of the PSU? I've never heard of a way to identify a PSU through software. Just take your case cover off.

Yeah, what he said.
Take the cover off, and take a picture of the label to help you remember in future. You may have to remove the PSU temporarily, depending on where the label is.

Need to at least dismount the PSU to check the label.
