How to change the automatic download directory in Windows 7?

This might seem stupid, but hey, I looked. I'm new to Windows 7 and don't know my way around.

I'd like to make my default download directory in my E drive and not on my OS drive, which is an SSD. However, I haven't been able to figure out how to tell Windows this.

Thanks in advance for helping a dolt.

to change the default download target for Internet Explorer to some other location on your system, the following quick registry change SHOULD do it. Open REGEDIT.
Navigate the following key from left pane:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer
You should see Download Directory key from right pane. Edit the ‘download directory’ value to the full path of the directory you wish to use click ok
