my old e-mail provider went under (i knew it was gonna) so i got a new one and now i need to change my SETI e-mail and i would like to keep my WU's, how would i go about doing this? and then i have to change my SETI client too, i use SETI Driver so i have a cache how can i do this??

thanks for the help.

do you have your setipassword? if so just use that and the old email addy and then change it. works fine. i think your password is your ID number or something for seti and it tracks that more than anything else.

Do you have the password to your account?

If so, i believe it is as easy as loggin into the account, and changing the email address there.

If you do not have the password however, then it can be more difficult, and you would have to see about contacting Seti to see if they can sort it out, but there has not been a good history of people succeding in changing details if there is not a password.

You can still use the old email account to set up new clients with Seti.

Good luck

ok, i guess i dont have my password 🙁.

EDIT it turns out i do have my password save in windows, when i go to Edit User Profile i double click the box select my old e-mail and the password box fills in, then i click the button and it says

<< There was no user profile found for that user. >>

so it is the right password since when i typed in a bad one it said

<< The email address and password you typed don't match anything in our database. Please go back and try again. >>

now i need to know a way to somehow get what it says in the little ********* stars to say what my password is, does windows save these somewhere so i could find out??

im using Windows 2k and IE 6.0

Can't you log into your account info with the PW info already stored in windows? Then change the e-mail addy there and request your PW again.

Would this work??? hilight the *****'s and then Control-C go the the other page and click in the text box and Control-v

i already tried that and you cant ctrl+v in the other box...and i tried it somewhere else a while back and it didnt work.

Hm, that's odd... I tried inputting my e-mail and password into the Edit User Profile area, it asked me to store them or not, I said yes, and I went to the User Account area and put in my e-mail address and the password filled in (I hadn't previously saved it, haven't logged in in months, and I clear those out fairly often).

How did you access your old e-mail? Was it some sort of Web-based thing like Hotmail, or did you have to use something like Outlook or Netscape Messenger? If you had to use a program like Outlook, do you still have the old profile? If you do, it should still contain your old messages.

it was web based, so i dont have the password stored anywhere.

It doesn't look like the password is sent encrypted. So if you get a packet sniffer you might be able to pick up the password being sent out. 🙂
