Your external IP address? Is this IP address automatically assigned to you from your ISP (i.e. DHCP)? If so, you could try changing the MAC address on the router to get a new IP.

I'm not familiar with Linksys's router menus, but look through it and there should be a field where you can type in or clone your MAC address. A MAC address looks like 00-00-00-00-00-00, where the 0s are a value from 0 to 9 and A to F.

To get to your router menu, you go to your web browser and type in 192.168.x.1 (x is a number) and login. If you don't know the exact address, go to Start > Run > "cmd" > "ipconfig"

Look for your Default Gateway. That should be the address you will be typing into your web browser to enter the menu.

You can try simply turning your modem off and on again. If that does not work, try turning it off and waiting 15 minutes before turning it back on. If that does not work, try modifying the Mac address indeed.

It depends on what brand/model/firmware whether it allows you to change the Mac address, you might be able to find this info when Googling for your modem. If it is present it is most likely under an Advanced tab or something like that.

on linksys menu you go to "MAC address clone" tab and set it to enable then you are done. If not, you caan disable it and enter/change address you like then click save and wait for 5 min for router to set itself.

What about disconnecting your router, hooking your pc up directly and then doing a ip release, and then an ip renew?

Just unplug yourself from the internet tonight while you sleep or something. Always worked for me. :)

Now, stop pissing off people on IRC or whatever. :p

If I remember correctly I put IP address on each 2 laptops and 1 computer so they will not steal IP each other is to type TCP/IP properties from network. Maybe it will help.
