I'm looking for ways to buy a Static IP and host all sorts of things on my new linux server...Anyone here ever done it or know how?

First I need help finding an ISP which will give me a Static IP at a decent price. Second I need help setting it up, but that shouldn't be too hard. I need more help with the first part...anyone know of a good service?

$80.00 monthly with Cox Business. 99.9% uptime and always helpful. Different contacts than with Cox Cable which is nice.

Wow. Where do you have Cox Business Cable Modem for $80? It's a minimum of $130 in Arizona (we use it).

I have Verizon Business DSL. $80/month for 3M/768 with a single static, no PPPoE or DHCP, just straight static. No real downtime yet. Unfortunately, you do need a phone line, so figure $110-$120/month if you don't already have one.

I think FIOS is $100/month for 15M/2M, but I'm not sure if that includes a phone line. I've heard rumors that it comes with 5 statics.

Verizon doesn't offer "dry loop" telephone numbers?

Unfortunately, not in my area. They might in other areas.

$79.99 for home business. Static IP, 512k/4M, unlimited computers and bandwidth. I had to switch to it when they flipped becuse i was playing with a windows based web server a few years back. Now I can do as I wish although I rarely go outside the means of a standard cable connection.

I ran a FTP based backup server for a small business awhile back and had maxed out connections for a few months solid. Never heard anything on it.

Hmmmm....I guess that Cox in Arizona is ripping us off. Their business Cable Modem is MUCH more here.
