How to build a rack mountable server guide

I know there has been some debate about building a rack webserver and about AMD relibility issues in webhosting.

These guys have an article on how to build a rack server which is pretty well documented. It explains the basics, things to consider, requirements, RAID, etc. The performance difference between an Athlon and Pentium III is also revealed. Is obvious that a 2100+/DDR is killing any PIII. Well, read for yourself, there are lot of pictures too.

The full story is here.

Too bad it's not about a 1U There is something I find strage, we can't find a benchmark for Linux servers???

Building their servers with IDE RAID... hah!

Hah! Maybe for Win2k it's good to have a floppy for your ERD.

And they picked a SMC NIC? Go with Intel or 3Com.
