does any one know how to build a fan shroud for a radiator? i have a 2"x6"x9" car heater core that needs a shroud to attach 4 fans (2 pushing, 2 pulling). I'd like it to be copper, but anythign will work. so i guess what i need are plans to build it or put me in contact with somone who can build me one given specs of the radiator.

well there is the problem of the reserviors at each end, then would make a funny fit, alot of the custom built radiators i've seen have copper fan schrouds that looked like somone built them theirself.

do you think if i went to a blacksmith or whatever they are called now a days if i gave him dimensions could he rig somthing? and would it be expensive to do it that way.

so far i started building one with aluminum and 1/4" aspen wood (soft) and small screws, but so far i've only built the sides and i can't fidure out how to build a raised double fan holder to hold 2 120mm fans.

I would go to a scrap yard and look for some old aluminum siding, and try to form it. then pop rivit it to the fan fixture.

A sheet metal company could probably do it, just rough out a drawing, show them the radiator and tell them what you want.

If you really want to waste some money, try a machinist. You've given me an interesing idea on using my mill after i make my own waterblock. I would be a waste of material though to machine out all that metal. But it would be a nice solid thing. Just a few questions though. What car gave up that heatercore and what case are you using that will fit something that tall?

to answer your question i'm going to use this case which should give me a ton of room. give a day or so to find out what heater core i gave up, it was an auciton on ebay i got it for $14.25 shipped, and i've run it for three days now in my garage to make sure it does not leak and i found that there are no leaks. if you want i can send you a picture, its large enough to fit 2 120mm fans, (although i'm not sure how to rig it seeing as how i have no idea or tools to work with aluminum, so far i've been using aluminum corner peices and aspen 3/8" finishing boards with screws and neoprene padding so it will not rattle, but i'm not sure how to finish it, ifyou want i can post a few pics when i'm done.
