How to Boot to an SATA drive

I'm trying to boot to my sata drive looking for to make a boot disk that will allow me to access my drive and not just my a: I've tryed makin a boot dsk in windows but all it allows me to boot to is a: ... also when I dl boot programs to make a boot dsk all it allows is me to acces my CD/DVD drives.

1) What brand and model of motherboard do you have?

2) What is your goal here, are you trying to run DOS and access your SATA drive that way?

3) Have you tried the drive letters beyond your optical drives (E:, F:, whatever) in case your drive ended up off the end like that?

disable native sata function in motherboard bios or install sata drive for dos or other system, there should be a driver in a disk.

no. 3 no I have'nt I've only tryed d and e (Ive disconnected my )

niji1675: I don't think I can disable native sata in my bios (I don't think my mobo can do that)
I didn't think of geting a sata driver for dos - I'll do that

where are some dos sata boot drivers???

sorry to come in with my own question...but after reading this I'm wondering...

Can I install windows onto a SATA drive to boot just like any other pata drive?
Or do i need to go through some steps before the SATA drive is accessible for installing

I have an ECS KN1 Sli Lite
i think it should have native SATA drive support

The way I got windows to install on my sata drive is that I my system to boot to my cd/dvd drive and then I installed windwos to my sata drive and that made my hd my MBR drive and the is history
