How to boot new system

I am trying to figure out how to build my system, and was wondering how to boot a brand new system with XP home. Is it on the cd, and will the sytem boot to a cd. Thanks
 
depends on the settings in bios for your mobo.

I would assume that most mobo's by default boot from CD ROM as the first device.

It'd be a good idea on the first boot to go into the bios settings and look around at the stuff.
