How to block software online check?

Hello everyone,
I would like to know if there is a software that can prevent other softwares from checking back to their servers? I have tried demos before purchase, and every time I run them, they report back to the servers for license checking, which I don' t mind, but they spam my emails with other stuffs. I always uncheck the boxes where I would accept spams from them but yet they are still coming. I am presently using Zone Alarm 4 Pro, but it does not seems to block the server online back check. ZA 4 only allow and not allow the softwares from accessing the internet. Is there any other software that I can use? I am tire of change my emails to avoid spams.

Never, Never, Never register with your "real" email address. Always use a "disposable" yahoo/hotmail/hotpop/... address.

Hello Everyone...

the easiest way for you to prevent an unauthorized access to the internet is to install a firewall..

for example McAfee FW allows you to filter the incoming and outgoing traffic
so you would simply disallow the application to access the internet
and it should take care of the problem

ZoneAlarm will do this as well. However, whenever I disallow the application to access the internet, it also prevents the application from working too. One application would be download accelerator.
