how to block a site (server) from IE?

is there anyway i can block IE from accessing a certain host? (without installing a program to do it)

i remember hearing about puttin the address in a folder somewhere in the windows directory, but i forget.

win xp btw, if that matters.

Yes. Click "tools" and then "internet options". Look for the "Security" tab and click on "restricted sites". You can figure it out from there.

also you could search for "hosts" in the system32 folder, open it in notepad and change the DNS to an invalid IP so they won't get there :D :D

i put the name of the server in and an IP of 0.0.0.0

seems to work now :)

the IE restricted sites just blocked cookies for me.

The only thing to keep in mind is that the site can be accessed if the IP is typed into the Address Bar.

Anyone know how to get the HOSTS file to work correctly in WinXP? There's a couple instances of the hosts file but changing them doesnt seem to work correctly :(
