I'm at work so this is from memory, but...

Open the game and write down the names of the demos listed

hit the tilde key to bring down the console (that's the "~" key in the upper left of your keyboard)

type "timedemo 1" and hit return
type "demo <insert name of one of the demos you wrote down>" hit return

Game will zing through the demo as fast as it can

When it's done, hit the tilde key to bring the console down again and you should see a listing for something like "xxx frames in xx.x seconds at xxx.x frames per second"

just start the game and demos should be in the menu. the latest patch 1.31 does not have any demos so you would have to go back to an earlier point release.

fyi, if you want to record your own demos then type this in the console

\g_synchronousclients 1
\record demoname

am doing some benchmarks and have done seta cmd_maxfps 0 to remove the framerate limit but every benchmark peaks ~ 205fps... yet I see Tom and Anand getting 300+ in reviews - is someone fabricating scores or is there something odd going on with Q3 1.30?
I know the hardware is capable and it's very odd that it would hit the 'roof' like this - anyone?

I think sound is disabled in the app rather than no soundcard

To disable sound use

set s_initsound 0
snd_restart

prior to the benchmark
