any doctors or medical professionals here?

I wanna be fully screened for all types of cancers. You just never know and I'd rather be safe than sorry. Would it cost me a fortune? Would my insurance cover any of it?

TIA

dunno. i just wanna have this done because they say early detection is KEY. those regular physicals and stuff I usually get are nothing. cancer doesn't really run in my family. but i just wanna be safe and have it done.

True, early detection is beneficial, but are you willing to undergo these every single year until you die? Cancer can grow from nothing to something rather large in less then a single year. Those fulll body CT scans are the best I think.

don't bother. you'll end up wasting money (either your own or the insurance company's) on a risk that's not that high. go to your doctor for a regular physical if you haven't had one already. talk to the doctor about your family history, and let that person judge what things are worth screening for. wasting the insurance company's money doesn't sound like a bad thing overall, but the costs end up back in everyone else's laps eventually.

Impossible. There are >200 types of cancer that you can get and to test for all of them would be costly, unethical, retarded even.

Get a checkup if you're concerned. Take good care of yourself, don't smoke, don't get sunburned every day, don't be a drunk, don't eat moldy peanuts or have sex with pamela anderson, eat enough fruit, vegetables, and fiber, and get check ups when necessary and you shouldn't have to worry unless you have some inherited predisposition to cancer or live under power lines.

even if you follow all of the above (especially not smoking), you can still develop lung cancer. i'm going to the hospital tomorrow to visit a close relative who is suffering this fate. :(

You remind me of my paranoid friend. He's healthy but too paranoid that everytime he feels 'not well', he starts to worry about all the possible disases. He even had a panic attack and couldn't breathe because of that. It's so bad that I wish he gets sick, that way, his mind, at least, would be able to rest.
Stop worrying about all the freaking types of cancer. Checking out for all types of cancer? If you do so, you'd be so damn broke that you won't have any money for the cancer once you really get it.

Agreed.

Also, keep in mind that your immune system is the first line against cancer. It kills it and cleans it up. Keep your immune system strong and healthy and your risk will be much lower.
