How to automatically add paragraph numbering to EXISTING text in word or wordperfect?

Here is an unbelievably easy issue to which I can't find any solution.

I have a number of documents that I'd like to post to a web site. They lack paragraph numbers, which I'd like to have added automatically. I can't figure out how to do this in Word or Wordperfect. The paragraph numbering functions won't seem to do this. I'd think a simple Macro would do it, but I'm not sure how to get this done either...

Any help MOST appreciated!

In word: If all the paragraphs are the same style (and they should be in a well formatted document) then modify the style of the paragraph to include numbering. Let's says it's the "normal" paragraph style in Word XP. You would select the Format | Styles and Formatting menu, click on the normal style dropdown on the right hand side of the page, Then select modify | format | numbering and apply your numbering format of choice. When your done, click 'Apply' and the numbering will be applied to all normal pararaphs.

In WordPerfect (Office 2002 version):

1 Click in a document where you wish to place the number.
2 Click Format Paragraph Paragraph numbering.
3 Type a level number in the Outline level box.
4 Type a starting number in the Start value box.
5 Choose a numbering format from the Number type list box.
Notes
· You can also number a paragraph in a document by pressing CTRL + SHIFT + F5.
· You can also force a paragraph number, as well as specify that numbers automatically update as items are added and deleted. For information, see "Numbering lists and outlines."
