How to attain maximum OC?

I just got a new barton and will do 11X200 at stock voltage. Ideally I would be at 12X200 when all said and done. At 1.8 volts it would not do it right out of the box. What would help this situation. Do you run it at a higher voltage for a few days then try again. Am I stuck at a 2.2 gig (3200pr)?? It has the AQXEA xpmw stepping and should do well. I have an SLK900 with a "pretty" LED fan on it. I should be able to go higher...any thoughts?

My "Strategy" is to find the max mhz of the cpu at whatever voltage you're applying, by using highest multipliers or whatever you want, just look for max stable pure clock speeds. Then finding the fastest FSB you can run at.

Then find the highest fsb/lowest multiplier combination for that particular clock speed, and thats about as best performance you can get.

The "burning in" theory is a farce so don't buy into that....

what are your other specs???

Power supply?? How are your voltages at idle and load??

How are you cpu temps idle and load???

How are your system or chipset temps at idle and load???

Can you reapply heatsink on NB chipset using AS and maybe a better cooler??

Have you applied more voltage to the vagp and vdimm???

Are you using onboard features on theboard???

I didn't know if this was a myth or not was my actual question.

I have had a tbred at 2.4 gig and was hoping to find a barton to do the same but I think I am stuck around 2.3. I have all the other stuff taken care of SLK900, NF7 version 2, increased vdimm etc. I will try more again in a day or so and see if it makes a difference.

I am currently at 2.3 and will try to go a little higher tonight...wouldn't work the other night so we shall see. I like to run prime 95 to ensure total stability.

My AQXEA 2500+ wouldn't stabilize higher than 210 X 11 or 215 X 10.5.

I replaced it with a $65 1700+ DLT3C that stabilized at 222 X 11 on 8RDA+ and 220 X 11 on NF7Sv2.

yeah i recommend isolating the clock mult first and just use like 166fsb or so to find the max speed the chip can do
also i doubt you need 1.8v, maybe that's all the chip can do

Most Bartons hit a wall at 2.2-2.3 Ghz, while the 256K Tbred B's (the really good ones) can go to 2.3-2.4 Ghz. It's the extra cache that holds back the Barton primarily in overclocking.
