Here is the deal...
We have a 100mbit fibre line in our office, that is connecting over pppoe.
our original test setup had a 100mbit router, connected to the fibre 'modem'. This worked fine, as the router when told to connect and establish over pppoe would pull down one of the 16 static "real world" ip#'s provided to us by our ISP.
Now we have changed that setup, and removed that router. Instead of having one device connected to the fibre line, we have two...both are routers, one is for incoming VPN connections only, and the other is for other connections through a high end firewall.
both the VPN and the Firewall support 100mbit PPPoE connections...
but here is the problem. Both of these devices can establish a PPPoE connection to the ISP and get an IP#, but its the same IP# for both Example: we establish a PPPoE session on the VPN Box and get an IP#, no prob. We then do the same thing on the firewall box, but it pulls down the same IP# as was just assigned to the VPN box, then there is an IP# conflict and the VPN box drops. This is odd as it should work, we have 16 static IP#s.
We also are unable in the PPPoE settings on both the VPN and the Firewall box to 'set' our own IP# on the boxes. The only options are the PPPoE login/pass.
So basically, it works, but you can only have one 'primary' device connected over pppoe. It's only one or the other currently. Anyone have any insight, is this normal? How the hell are you suppose to use your other static IP#'s ?
