How to argue if I was told "Running out of stock"?.....

I tried to pricematch with Staples, but kept to be told "out of stock" by two different customer service guys. However, I can put the item into shopping cart at their website. I guess that is just their pretext, how can I argue with them?

Place the order on the website, call back to get a pricematch the next day ....
