How to apply compund on HSF?

Im applying some Arctic Silver Compound to my Global FOP38.....how much should I apply of the compund to it? And where should I focus on? Just on the core? or all over the actual HSF so it ocvers the entire processor? also anyone know of any good mobo monitors other then ASUS probe and MB5? Thanks guys

Spread it very thin. HS compound is just made to fill any voids or small imperfections in the 2 conductors. It is not made to transfer heat. I usually put a good base on. Then whipe most of it off. Apply it only where the HS touches the slug.
