How much are the repairs costing you? A car that's only 9-10 years old should not be costing much more than $150/month in repairs. Good luck financing a decent used car for that price. Even if you find one, any used car at that price will have its own repair needs.

Grand Maruqis
Start actually using up your cars now, buy used for the rest of your life, retire a millionaire.
or Plan B, take out a car note now, and owe on a car for the rest of your life. You're in college, do the math.

Used up 1 car, bought new, will run it for 10 years (and know the background of the car from mile 10 now)
Used up another car, bought new, will run IT for 10-15 years (and know the background again)
After 1 year both cars were blue booked at the value i paid after TTL because of good negotiating..
I bounced around through 4 randomly unreliable cars from age 16-22... then bought a new car. work is an 85 mile drive each way once a week, and 20 mile round trip 2-3 days a week. Wife drives 35 miles each way 5 times a week. Some people are willing to sacrafice $$ for reliability, and the cars we purchased i will feel safer in, in the future, even when they get to be 10 years old because i know the maintenance records and how well they've been taken care of (lowering the chance of major problems, or major UNEXPECTED problems)
30k/10 years = 3k a year = 250 a month for 2 cars, and the first 4 years the one is warrantied, the first 5-10 years the other is warrantied... depending on mileage. Overall I think it was a wise decision, but of course... only time will tell. It might be 10k to step up from a used 6k car to a nice new 16k car that is really fun/comfortable to drive, not the worst step.... but if your someone who will trade in that car in a year and step up to a 40k car just because you can afford it.... then you will be living from car note to car note
my advice is, while in college, however, to buy a 500-1k beater, when it has a major problem ditch it, when it has a bunch of minor problems, fugging fix the brakes, flat, or learn to fix it yourself... a window actuator 350?? for wtf? leave that damn window rolled up, your a college student, deal with it.... stop looking for excuses to to ditch your car, and wait until it stops running![]()

I am running this one into the groundthe ABS used to engage randomly while braking (dry, even from 2 miles per hour GENTLE BRAKING), now it doesnt engage at all. Radiator repair for $1200.
about the window, I do pull it up physically as high as it goes, but it slides back down to about 1/4-1/5th open, so when it rains, it rains into my passenger seat. Last week I drove to work with a pile of snow sitting in the car next to me.
Problem is, I need some plan for what happens when it finally dies. in the past 6 months its allready cost me a broken radiator and has a broken window motor... The thing is SCARY to drive in wet or icy weather, I hydroplane constantly at 20-30 miles per hour, and if its on the slightest bit of ice in the parking lot, I have to work for an hour to get it out of the parking spot without it sliding and smashing into the cars on either side. Im sick of this car.

why when someone mentions a lack of money are they automatically referred to sonz70?
and I would love another job in the 40-60 hour range.. except the max attainable with classes concurrently is probably about 40 hours.

do police auctions work well, and are there any good online databases of them?
