How to Add Extra Router to connect to TV

Hi
I'm new to this Forum and new to networks so I may need a little time to come up to speed with the terminology.

I have just upgraded my simple network by changing from a Linksys WRT54G wireless Router to a D-Link DIR-635.
I have successfully set up the home network again (2 pcs with XP pro and a laptop with Win ME). I have used the D-Link DIR-635 wireless router connected by CAT5 cable to my main pc and a Linksys PCI wireless card in the other pc and a wired connection to the laptop.
I am using WPA Personal security and this appears to work OK.

My problem is twofold.
1) I also have an internet radio which used to work wirelessly without problems when I had the Linksys WRT54G wireless router connected, but with this D-link router I keep getting the error message "Cannot connect to AP".
I have tried a range of different settings with the router but the only way I can get this to work is by disabling the WPA security - obviously I don't want to work like this.
Anyone have any ideas >

2) I have just bought a new Digital TV which has a LAN connection point. I don't have a wired LAN connection point in my living room, so would like to see if it is possible to use my old WRT54G wireless router (plugged into the TV by CAT5 cable) and connected wirelessly to my D-link network.
Any ideas would be appreciated.

Many thanks

You need a wireless bridge to connect your TV wirelessly, I don't have any experience doing so but I depending on what version your wrt54g router is you may be able to flash the firmware to dd-wrt which has the capability of operating as a wireless bridge or repeater. Personally I'd run cat 5e or cat 6 cable to a keystone jack near the TV, sooner or later you'll want a fast reliable connection for your TV and at this point I don't believe wireless is as good at providing that connection as a wired connection.

Every version of the WRT54G with the exception of v7.0 is supported according to the dd-wrt page (http://www.dd-wrt.com/site/support/router-database). As long as your version is supported, you can easily set up the router in client bridge mode and it should work just fine. Throughput will be determined by the quality of the connection between the wrt54g and your new router. If they are fairly close, the link may be fast enough for your needs. I used to be able to stream DVD quality mpeg 4 files across my network just fine using 2 wrt54g routers with dd-wrt on them. Playing xbox 360 on live and streaming netflix movies also worked extremely well with this setup (I had my 360, ps3, and my gaming PC all connected to the dd-wrt in client bridge mode.

As far as your internet radio is concerned, I'm not sure what to tell you. As the device works fine without WPA on, there is probably a problem with the way that the net radio handles this encryption scheme. Were you using WPA before? If not, have you checked to make sure this device supports WPA? This might be something to ask the manuf or do a google search on the specific device. If it's a stationary device and close to where you want to put your wrt54g bridge, you could just hardwire it (assuming it has a ethernet jack) and let the bridge take care of the encryption.
