Maybe because I am not a developer?
I have never heard of that site, so thanks for the link!

Waiting "Help my phone won't boot!" post!

Really! If that's the case, forget it then.
Sounds like rooting is playing with fire.
I am not messing with it.

Major thanks for the "warning".

I cleared my app's caches and have 4GB free.
Good enough!

You can permanently stop things from running deleting via root. That can be good or bad, but the extra space you gain is hard to utilize.

Rooting your phone is not rocket science by any means. That said it can brick your phone if you screw something up, this is why its important to do your homework, i have rooted dozens of phones, never bricked one yet.

Most OTA will have checks to see if there are any modifications to the system data. If the hash changes, the OTA won't take. Do it at your own risk.

Original point still holds.
Absolutely ridiculous that the OS eats up 5GB for doing nothing,
but it took 5 mins to clear the cache. Basic maintenance.
At 4GG, I have enough space to last forever.
Who would anyone ever need 32GB on their phone?

No one. On a phone. But, today a phone is less a phone and more pocket computer - a pocket computer to store photos, movies, music, apps and the secrets of binge ePub reading. ;-)

My S5 started with a 16gb card in addition to ~10gb(usable) onboard. I then went to a 32gb card, ran out of room, and put in a 64gb card. I've been thinking lately I'd like to get a 128gb card cause it's getting to point I'm deleting data to make room for more data.

Maybe everyone doesn't use their pocket computer as an over-featured flipphone?

That's fairly clean as well.
