I don't really remember from previous years, but seems like the A pillar of current cars are HUGE! I haven't measured mine, but I'd bet it's 5" in diameter.

/pervetometer explodes in a burst of hot sticky white substance

The A pillar on my GTO is certainly larger than on my Camaro.
So you agree that they're getting wider nowadays? I suppose it's due to safety standards. Does anyone have an older car for comparison?

It's getting to the point that the A pillar is a visual distraction.

GM said the GTO is being retired because it wasn't worth it to bring it up to 2007 impact standards. Maybe the next one will have an even bigger pillar!!! 😀

You're such a pillar to this community. ¬¬ 😛

We got pretty big ones holdin up that floor over the basement but had to get even bigger ones 'cuz momma just kept growin' and growin' and the mailman said the floor was gonna cave in!

Yeah, it's getting silly... that's one of the things I like about my Volvo wagon, great visibility all around.

That's weird, why does the GTO need such a big pillar? I can understand the Camaro's being big since it has the t-tops and the pillars serve as extra support..but the GTO doesn't even have a sunroof.

Though I guess extra stability never hurt anyone.

My A pillar is enormous - and just about at the exact right angle to completely block the view of opposing traffic at certain intersections. I've almost had several collissions due to that pillar.
