I love when I get these in middle of night for the GTA and I'm like 800km north. Of course they have to send it 3 times spaced out in about 15-30 minute intervals. One for English, one for French, and one to say it's cancelled.

People have been complaining about this system for a while because it has lot of flaws but they just get told they hate children and to suck it up. The issue with sending everything as the highest possible alert is people will just turn the system off altogether. Then there's the fact that they send multiple instead of just one. There's no reason why they can't have the English and French as one alert, and don't bother sending a cancel, people will find out through other mediums such as news. The cancel is NOT an emergency.

Kinda cruel  If you have a child missing, you're hoping everyone in their power is helping to find him/her. The Amber Alert is supposed to make you aware in the hope someone happens to see something.

We get a lot more silver alerts than amber alerts. “One hundred thirty eight year old man driving a green Saturn...” Maybe the state could stop issuing drivers licenses to folks who trigger a silver alert every time they leave the house.

I don't think we get any kind of "cancel" notice here in Georgia, but I've been turning the alerts off for a few years now.
