Seriously, this thread is hilarious. HomerJS and his counterparts are getting all worked up, while his thread title, meant to to be taken seriously, has about as much impact as "Where the wild things are." I can see the Brady campaign or some other left-wing radical group putting out a children's book entitled "How the right wing lie machine works". :D

Neither you or I knows what evidence was available on the day of those attacks. I do know, no matter what evidence I had I wouldn't have announced it that day. It would take a least a few days if not weeks to confirm anything you had.

Susan Rice did not get on the news annoucing a reason for the attacks knowing she had zero evidence. Her mistake was using the video and not leaving herself an out.

Unlike within a few days of the real 9/11 the Bush admin making plans to go after Sadam and we know how that turned out.

There were intel briefings that provided warning that there could be attacks on 9/11, but the admin ignored them. There were requests to beef up security, but the State Department refused. Heck, Obama didn't even attend the morning security updates. The White House glommed onto the stupid movie as a smoke screen for their poor planning.

As for unemployment, the numbers won't be adjusted until after the election. Convenient.

And as for lies, Stephanie Cutter can't speak for more than 10 seconds without lying. But liberal lies are good lies in your book.

Chris Mathews was really pissed. I thought Jack was Obama's buddy?

Anyway... Maybe it would be a good idea to wait until it actually happens?

How the right wing lie machine works
...
But that's not what Jack really did. Now Drudge, Newsmax and other websites will run headlines. Other right wing talk show hosts will pick this up and run with it. Soon to be followed by Fox News with their headlines,"some people have said Obama cooked the books"

The idea that the BLS monthly reports is doctored is about as ridiculous a conspiracy theory as you'll find.

The ADP jobs report, which comes from the private sector, has shown higher private sector job growth than has the BLS report in each of the past 2 months.

If the BLS jobs report cannot be trusted this month, why can it be trusted when it shows poor numbers? Why didn't the Bush admin cook the books to help the McCain campaign? How did we even know that the country lost millions of jobs in between 9/08 and 6/09?

Why is this current jobs report merely "good" but not "great?" Why was the August report lackluster at best?

Works the same as the left wing.
Only a different set of lies.

This has more to do with an inability to accept inconvenient information than it does honesty. The people who believe the BLS data are doctored probably actually believe it. It's more a capacity for self-delusion.

I think both sides have a strong capacity for self-delusion. I don't think it exists in equal degrees.

Funny the thread backfire, yet not one rebuttal to the original post.

Well there was one but he couldn't back it up.

Seems pretty successful to me.

I talked to a liar the other day and asked him if he was a liar. He told me he isn't a liar and furthermore that everybody is a liar. So I told him he's a liar but he denied it.

Then I asked him if he is moral and he said he is.

One version of the moral of this story is that liars are lying scum who believe their own lies.

So I asked myself if I could make up a lie so big that even liars wouldn't believe it and right off the bat I thought of two. Women who are raped, genuinely raped, have a way of killing the rapists sperm and there's no such thing as man made global warming. All pregnancies must be brought to term and nothing must be done so save the planet.

It's a good thing that conservatives aren't completely filthy lying scum because ir they could threaten the lives of women and all life on earth.

Thank God, that when a lie is too big to be believed, the mind produces a chemical that washes it away.

I want to say one more thing to lying scum conservatives whose minds have been washed clean and that's FUCK YOU.

But I suppose you think there is something substantial in here to back up the OP, amiright?

Maybe because Obama doesn't need someone to read him the "see spot run version"

BTW - Name the last president who is present in the White House every day to meet concerning those daily briefings?

Actually the State Department glommed onto the video. Which was not too unreasonable for an initial story, although I still contend you don't come out with a story the day after that kind of event.

How about another example, the $200M/day trip to India. Another classic.

People who feel worthless look for somebody they hope to turn into somebody more worthless than them. Such small hideous people are full of resentment, and so they accuse that target of stealing from them. My tax dollars are being wasted protecting a worthless President and that makes him more worthless than he already is. This is how the real scum in the Republican party play upon the sick small minded individuals among us to herd them to the polls and suck them dry for political contributions. Festering leaches sucking the brain dead......

Dude it's simple; you can comment on the video, disprove it, affirm it, or GTFO. As proved by Matt1970, you can't dumbunk something by just saying you've been dumbunked.

So far I've seen little against this other than the entire media is biased because they don't report on conspiracy theories, which ironically in itself is a conspiracy theory. You guys are now moving on to a us vs them argument to muddy the waters.

How the right wing lie machine works

This seems a particularly poor example to use as how some "right wing lie machine works".

First, the jobs report indicated only 114,000 new jobs (IIRC). This amount is no more than previous months and less than the economists say we need to just keep up with those entering the workforce. Why this report is beyond question I do not know.

Welsh was over-the-top IMO, but I saw him on MSNBC, hardly a "right wing" channel. Nor was I aware that Welsh was part of some "right wing machine". He is neither politician nor journalist (or Op ED type), he's just a retired business guy.

To see how a political machine works on spreading lies let's wait and see how the story unfolds regarding Obama's claim about Romney tax plan and the study by Princeton professor Harvey Rosen.

There is no claim about Romney's tax plan. It's simple fact.

The math doesn't add up. When you factor in all of the tax cuts he wants, 20% on top of the Bush tax cuts for everyone including the 1%, getting rid of the estate tax, reducing corporate tax rates, and adding 2T to defense spending there is SIMPLY NO WAY TO MAKE THAT REVENUE NEUTRAL WITHOUT SOCKING IT TO THE MIDDLE CLASS. There are nowhere near enough revenue in deductions that could even make up for this.

It's an incredibly intellectually dishonest tax plan that doesn't even attempt to hide its trickle down, supply side, wealth redistribution core. No serious economist supports it or thinks it would in any way improve our fiscal situation. And by the way, an op-ed piece by some professor does not qualify as a true independent study. What a load of horse shit.

The State Department knew in advance that there were credible threats and chose not to act. They were given requests to beef up security and they chose not to act. Also, I'm not talking about missing an occasional briefing. From what has come out it seems like Obama made a habit of it. And presidents can get these briefings even when not in DC. Bush got them at his Midland ranch.

And Clinton, Bush, or Kerry wouldn't have gone off to Vegas like Obama did.

http://www.weeklystandard.com/blogs...senting-my-study-romneys-tax-plan_653917.html

Last night, the Obama campaign blasted out another email claiming that Mitt Romney's tax plan would either require raising taxes on the middle class or blowing a hole in the deficit. "Even the studies that Romney has cited to claim his plan adds up still show he would need to raise middle-class taxes," said the Obama campaign press release. "In fact, Harvard economist Martin Feldstein and Princeton economist Harvey Rosen both concede that paying for Romney’s tax cuts would require large tax increases on families making between $100,000 and $200,000."

But that's not true. Princeton professor Harvey Rosen tells THE WEEKLY STANDARD in an email that the Obama campaign is misrepresenting his paper on Romney's tax plan:

"I can’t tell exactly how the Obama campaign reached that characterization of my work. It might be that they assume that Governor Romney wants to keep the taxes from the Affordable Care Act in place, despite the fact that the Governor has called for its complete repeal. The main conclusion of my study is that under plausible assumptions, a proposal along the lines suggested by Governor Romney can both be revenue neutral and keep the net tax burden on taxpayers with incomes above $200,000 about the same. That is, an increase in the tax burden on lower and middle income individuals is not required in order to make the overall plan revenue neutral."

The growth estimate I heard was 3%. I would agree that 7% is way too high. We only see that type growth for short periods. It's too inflationary.

Ok, I had to check it. He did 3 numbers 3%, 5%, 7% and his main conclusion was based on the 5% number.

We next turn to the estimates using the 2013 law baseline, for which I think the 5 percent growth assumption is more appropriate. For taxpayers with incomes of $100,000 and above, the net change in taxes is $25.8 billion. For taxpayers with incomes of $200,000 and above, the net change is now negative, $28.1 billion (about 5.5 percent less than baseline revenues of $509 billion). It seems fair to say that if the scheduled tax increases for 2013 actually went into effect and the definition of “high income” excludes people with 6-digit incomes below $200,000, then under the Romney proposal, maintaining an approximately constant tax burden on high-income individuals would be more challenging. But I imagine that doing so would not be mathematically impossible.

So I still call shenanigans. At the very least, pie in the sky optimism.

He's basically using the upward curve coming out of the recession and extrapolating 5% outward growth.

Hey HomerJS you've been here since 2002, pls show me your post back in '03 when Austin Goolsbee (Obama economic advisor) claimed the "books were cooked" when positive economic numbers were posted during the Bush admin:

The government's announcement on Tuesday that the economy grew even faster than expected makes the current ''jobless recovery'' even more puzzling.
-snip-
In other words, the government has cooked the books.
