how the heck do I turn off alert sound?

Maybe I am blind but I see no way to turn off the alert sound. In the settings all it shows is that various alerts can be turned off but nothing about the little sound itself when you get an alert.

EDIT: I tried muting the tab in Chrome but I still get alert sound. And even if I disable all alerts I still get the alert sound. For example someone replies to a thread I commented in and get the alert sound even though I am not even getting the notification since I disabled that. There has to be way to turn that sound off as its really getting on my nerves.

I'm not aware of any sounds on the forum, I wonder if you have some other issue going on?

I think it has to do with viewing the forums on mobile.

Maybe this previous thread will help them in changing what they need to while browsing on mobile devices.

this is not on mobile. it is the normal site. every time I heard the sound it would get the red dot by the bell at the top right of the page so yes it is the alerts from notification. this happened with the trophies, someone quoting me or someone responding to a thread I posted in. it seemed to have stopped now after I closed the browser and reopened it.

EDIT: lol it turned out to be my email when I was getting the notifications from the forums there. I have no idea why it started making that alert noise as I have never heard that before but I must have accidently turned it on yesterday when I was changing some some stuff in outlook.
