I have a Dell Dimension 4400 that was given to me. I've decided to blow it out, and place a fresh OS on it.

PROBLEM: I have no idea which video card is in the damn thing, and dell shows like 8 different drivers. How the hell can I figure it out?

Are there any utilities out there that one can download to detect this?

I know that using dxdiag at the command prompt gives some info - but it didn't tell me the make/model of the adapter.

HELP!

Err, DX Diag should tell you what type of card you have. Go to "Display 1" and it should say "Name", and that's what you have. Or "Chip Type" if that fails.

go to desktop and right click, then go to Properties. under the Settings tab, you can see Display: 'your video card' on 'your monitor'
