Even on little things.

For example:

I was driving back to school today, and saw a sign that said "For Emergencies call 911." I looked at the "911" part and thought, "What does that sign have to do with September 11th?" Then I realized, "DUH! It's 9-1-1!"

Amazing how your perspective on something that's been ingrained in your head since you were little can change in a matter of days.

I see my children as a heck of a lot less annoying now. I have a lot more tolerance and patience for them.. I always had a lot, but now I have even more. Now, even the sound of bickering and whining is music to my ears. I see every moment as a chance to both teach them and learn something myself. None of it is ever time wasted.

On the other hand, I have less tolerance for crap from adults. I've always tended to be patient with jerks but I am being much more direct now. I'm still polite, but I won't tolerate rudeness as much as I used to. Life is too short to get run over by unpleasant people, and I won't do it anymore. This may not go over so well with some of my in-laws, but I am determined to stick up for myself and my loved ones from now on. Let the Holidays begin!

My love for my country hasn't changed. But I marvel at all these people flying the flag. Most of them don't even know how many stars or stripes it has.
