How terrible is this?

So my roommate got a crock pot for Christmas from her boyfriend. She told us then that she would like to be the first person to use it. Earlier today it was still in it's plastic wrapping. She is now out of town.

I was eating a carrot downstairs while my roommate is playing some COD4, and I mention how good carrots are. He goes on to talk about how good they are in pot roast, slow cooked over 10 hours with a huge hunk of meat and onions and everything. We look at each other with the same idea, we need to make some pot roast.

So we go off to the store, purchase all the ingredients and set this thing up. The idea is to cook our roast, clean the crock pot and put it back in the box so she is never the wiser. The kicker is, she is vegan. This roast has meat + milk in it (milk is for the cream of mushroom soup that we put in it). So we are using her crock pot for the first time to cook meat and dairy products. Bad idea or worst idea?

I guess it doesn't matter now, we are committed. In about 9 hours it will be done and ready for consumption. It's a scumbag move, but dammit that crock pot has been tempting me since she got it.

UPDATE:

She knows nothing!

Indeed. Take some pictures of your roast and show it to her after she cooks her first meal in it.

It isn't like the meat and milk is going to "season" the crock pot. She would never know the difference.

haha that's an awesome idea :). But you could've bought your own... ah well, hehehe. I'm a carnivore myself as well. I probably would've done the same since vegans don't really strike me as ideal. Why go against your natural foods?

I don't really want to knock vegans, but I just do not believe in such a lifestyle. Vegetarian is totally fine. Vegan? Screw it...cook that meat in that pot!

How do you justify taking her crockpot when she already told you she wanted to be the first to use it? It's HERS. Yeah, it seems trivial. Yeah, you're not going to damage it. But it's not yours.

You have to respect her property whether she's using it to your satisfaction or not.

Next time OP's out, she's gonna have a period on his pillow. Or stuff old used tampons in his shampoo bottles

We live in a small house with a tiny kitchen, where am I going to put it? There is no pantry space as it is, I don't know where I could keep a second crock pot. I don't even have enough space in my room to fit everything I own.

It's a small house, but the rent is really really cheap for the area.

It appears that you disrespected your female roommate by not following her simple request. Let her be the 1st person to use the crockpot.
If she didn't specify this, then it would be fine for you to use it 1st.

Like someone else said, there cheap, less than $20.

Don't be too surprised if she loses a little trust in you and the other roommate.

I'd say go for it, but it wouldn't hurt to give her a call and ask.

I'm more offended by your decision to use cream of mushroom soup in a Pot Roast.

Would a Crock Pot get hot enough to cook a pot roast. I would never think to use a Crock Pot. Even thought it has the word "pot" in it.
