How stupid would it be for me to go to Six Flags on the 4th of July?

so yeah... pretty much what the title says... a good friend of mine is visiting from out of state and really wants to go to six flags New Jersey... the only day that it'd be possible for us to go is the 4th of july though... do you think it'd be complete suicide to do this or no? Anybody ever gone to a theme park on the 4th? I'm assuming it's probably horrible since so many people are off of work... but then again, it'll be bad most days during the summer...

any advice would be cool, thanks...

i think i fixed the poll... i suck at the internet.

Prolly crazy, but some holidays you can goto parks and they'll be dead. No lines, no crowds, etc.

Probably a 10. You really do suck at making polls. I click on vote and it takes me to the "forum polls" list.

okies..this is what you do.

Get there before opening. (they start letting you into the park a little before..).

Get ready to rush for superman...(it's not that great of a ride..but you wanna get it over with anyway..assuming you're interested). You wanna wait a max of 1 hour for that ride.

If you get to go on superman...when you get off, you will see the craziness of the line. the line will be way out past the actual LINE areas.
If you MISS the rush...forget lining up. You will wait at least 2 or 3 hours because that's the FIRST place everyone goes upon entering (being a new ride and all).

So..while the rest of the park is on line for superman..go ride all the other rides.

Speaking from experience so don't quote me or anything...

I went on saturday...waited 30 mins for superman...got off...went on at least 4-5 other rides with virtually NO line. It was great. But the bad thing was we were spoiled for not waiting..and waiting one hour for nitro was almost too much for us. :p We didn't even bother w/ Batman or Batman & Robin..both rides only had one train going..and the wait time was over 2 hours each. CRAZY, i tell ya.

Oh yea..and unless you have a strong back..don't go on Rolling Thunder..it will KILL you. hehe...i still have back pains due to that ride.

Cant be bad as Las Vegas on 4th of July or even worse Vegas on New Year's Eve. I've done both, and those are nightmares.

As a former Theme park employee, I urge you... stay away from parks on July 4th! It's insane! Where I used to work, they had to stop letting people in on July 4th b/c our park reached the occupation limit imposed by the Fire Marshall!

Save yourself a headache and avoid all parks on July 4th.

It will be crazy. Follow nativesunshine's advice though. Go to SuperMan first. Not the best ride, but it's new. I was lucky to go with my school on a physics trip, where we did "experiments". We went SuperMan first, after we got off, the line was horrendous. Then we went to every other ride. We went on Nitro and Medusa twice. Those two, IMO, are the best. We skipped Viper, because that ride just sucks. Have fun, but you will get raped with the lines.

If you go, spend your money on "fast passes," or "front of the line passes" or what ever they call them there. They have them at Six Flags Magic Mountain, and it's great.

It was $15 for four passes. We bought eight each and rode every major coaster on a packed day, and still had time to have a slow sit down lunch then go into town that evening to watch Matrix Reloaded on IMAX. Standing in line sucks.
