Obummer would apologize and give a speech about hope and change, and then give a stern warning to NK. We'd probably tell them we're really sorry and that we should have sent more aid.

Bush would have dropped his shorts, bent over forwards, grabbed his ankles and asked Il for insertion. Then he would have attacked Thailand.

Given the recent developments with NK sinking a SK ship. Lets say NK decides to show off, and show that it can strike a major U.S city. I assume the closes major city is Anchorage. How should the U.S react if NK launches a missle at Anchorage, AK. Not a nuclear missle, but a one with a conventional warhead. Lets say 5-10 people are killed or injured and a building is heavily damaged or destroyed. What should they U.S do in response.
I only read the first page, but unless Obama gets them to fire the first shot like his heros Lincoln and FDR, NK WILL NOT ATTACK THE US, with the possible exception of the UN Headquarters.

Probably some sort of UN response. I dunno if we'd hastily try to jump into a war.
I think the UN may try a New World Draft. Obama will be glad to invoke it if they ask their member states to. They don't support self-ownership and their Universal Declaration of Human Rights isn't against the draft according to Amnesty International.

Let's see if we can elevate the discussion a bit...

While we do not have access to OPLAN 5029 and thus do not know how we and the South Koreans will fight a full on war, we can consider the current scenario as part of a much larger game in play.

A very helpful interactive Crisis Guide: The Korean Peninsula

A good analysis of who and what is in play -

Preparing For Sudden Change in North Korea

Some consider North Korea ripe to become part of a Greater China rather than an independent state. Would the Chinese act?

the real answer is that we'll probably respond however China tells us to.

China doesn't want another Korean war. the last thing they want to have to deal with is Korean refugees.

Impose the greatest of economic sanctions, prevent Blizzard from shipping Starcraft 2 over.

 I don't get the parallels that you're trying to draw.

The troll was just posting a content-free insult about Obama, by implying he would do nothing but buy them off. So I am pointing out how his idol Bush did exactly what he is trying to bash Obama for.

If NK directly attacked the US in some fashion, I would fully expect and support military retaliation on such a scale the NK never attacks us again.

Not gonna' happen. It would be too dumb for NK.

But, I would let China (and Russia) know before it happened that any kind of strike from NK gets a huge disproportionate military response including the use of nukes to neutralize NK's nuclear program. I would also try to get China to invade on the ground to install a true puppet for themselves. Less expensive that way and they can deal with the rebuilding process.
