Are there any special precautions I should take, or can I cram it into the box my case came in and send it on its way? Should I remove the HDD and carry that with me? I'll be sending it by ground courier.

Make sure everything is screwed in tight. Every last nut and screw. Once it gets there, open it up and make sure everything is in place.

Here's an example of what not to do: Ship your system in a hard shell suit case and take the plane thinking you'll be able to use your system as soon as you get settled.

I broke off my hsf, my chip fried within 20 secs of booting. 😱
