If you care to try it, Schick has a lady's line of razors that does a GREAT job. The blades are at a different angle than their men's line and they work like a charm.

I'm not trying to get my face feeling like some bitch's vag, I just want something that doesn't tear my skin.

But it's interesting you mention shick. I am really tempted to get some new shaving cream too. I have Gillette right now, but it's a cheaper kind, I borrowed another kind of gillette from a friend over the summer, and when I shaved it felt like I was restoring 5 years back into my face.

I wish I remember the name of that cream, it was basically a blue semi-fluid that rubbed into a cream and then applied to the face. It was by Gillette and goodness it was good.

The crap is called Edge and it is extremely dry. You're better off with a shaving soap made from dead cows. I use William's Mug Soap.

I main reason I quoted you though was to preserve the first line of your reply. If I were still using a sig, that would be it.

Have you never heard of shaving gel?

When I was at home my dad was using Barbasol, I like it better then the Gillette shaving cream or gel. I saw a can of it at walmart for $1 or something near that.

Worth a shot

So does anybody else have issues shaving against the grain, or am I just special? No matter how long or short the hair is, it causes me to get terrible razor burn. Face, neck, everything.

Well, despite the fact we have a good shaving thread once a month here, no one listens to me when I recommend Aveda shaving cream. It works great for forward or backward shaving. Also, I recommend a Mach 3 or better. Keep it in alcohol when not using.

Those tips saved me from many razer burns. I normally hate shaving against.

also, change your blade more often if it's getting dull

I read your recs when you say Aveda, but it sounds like a product gay men apply to their asshole.

As far as the Mach 3 goes, right now I have a Shick with two cartridges. I guess the idea is to get more cartridges down the road so they can make extra $$$$

I'll try that, although holycrapexpensive. I use the gillette fusion 5-blade razors or whatever they're called.

I change them often, probably too often. Even if it's a fresh blade, many razor burns.

Is the only way to shave 3/8 inch long hair off of my face is to clog and waste a disposable razor?

That's what it is! Thanks. Imma get that. It was amazing to experience after using what I had for so long. Like being liberated.

For as big a smartass you are, you're just as much a dumbass. We're giving you real advice. Don't be a dick.

Apparently nobody taught you how to use water with your shaving techniques. Running water works great to clean out the razor. If not, run your thumb across the blades pulling slightly in the direction the blade edges are pointing so you don't cut yourself.

Same technique with standing water like a full sink or basin, but you'll have to run your finger a few more times.

Don't just look at the problem, fix it. Be resourceful. Try things.

Besides, they're disposables. Who cares?

Bolded is true. Learned from youtube videos :/

Yeah i'v tried the whole running water and finger thing, also tried using a index card... my solution is for it is to just shave more frequently. Now clogs made with short hair are clearable.

When it clogs just tap it against the bench/basin. All the crud comes out easily.

WHY HAVE I NOT I TRIED THIS!

But they seem to be stuck in the razor quite well... Not to thread jack anymore I might just get a safety razor razor to solve all my problems

Yep, this is a valid technique. Interestingly enough, the more blades you have the smaller the shards of hair will be when you shave and will therefore be easier to clean.

However, disposables are AWESOME. I have a mach 3 I use to clean up the "I don't have to work for 3 days so fuck it" growth and a bag of disposables to clean up properly.

You might want to try the bath section at a supply store. If you can find a nail cleaning brush like this...

Just get it wet as you're prepping to shave, then swipe the razor on the brush real quick. Fully clean nearly instantly :)

Shaving in both directions will give you a smoother shave. MY facial hair grows really slowly so I only need to shave every week or two. I find I shave downwards for 99% of the hair then go over my face and shave upwards a little to remove the little bit of extra roughness left over. Gives a baby smooth result.

I like the Taylor's of Old Bond Street myself. But I never tried out any real range of shaving soaps. I doubt they would last in the humidity here. However, I have heard good things about Colonel Conk's soap and it's practically as cheap as Williams (which I found to be rather crappy).

First post to remind people to DRY OFF YOUR BLADES with a towel after you shave. A very simple thing to do that has proven extremely effective for extending the life of your disposable blades. I don't think I've changed my Mach 3 blade in the last 6 months.

I shave every other day with a mach3. Once with the grain, then once against the grain. If I shave every day my neck gets really irritated.
