I have a rather big(22" x 9" x 14") CD recorder in its original box, still sealed. Could i ship this as is via USPS just by covering it up with paper bags, or should i get a bigger box? Would stock packaging be good enough?

You could ship it as is without even putting brown paper over it via UPS.

I assume the original box has it packed with those styrofoam moldings, in which case you should be fine shipping it as it is. And minendo is right, you don't need to cover it with anything unless you just want the original box to stay intact without the shipping labels plastered on it.

the issue is, i do not have a box that could fit it. It is such an odd shape that none will fit it.

Buy a moving box from uhaul, mailboxes etc., etc. or somewhere and cut it to fit.
