How should devices be hooked up to the psu?

Which combinations should be used when assembling your rig(i.e.: which devices go together on one line, and which should never be put together)

My cables are all 300volt, but some are 20AWG and some are 18. What does this mean?

The AWG (gauge) is based on the diameter of the conductor. 18AWG can carry ~50% more current than 20AWG (it's a log. scale). For 18AWG(Ampacity ~5-6A, my estimate---it's pretty complex) you should try and keep the current under 6A; for example a 6800UE draws 4.5A from a single 12V wire (source:Xbit) so you should probably not have any other connections drawing power on this wire.

Find the specs for 5v/12v power draw for each item you are connecting and keep the total for each wire below 6A. HDDs draw ~3A max, etc.

Wow that's really helpful. Both my psu lines, however, are 20awg, and the connecting wires are 18. Will this affect performance?
