Like what are the charges for a speeding ticket? What other penalties do they normally throw in there? I'm sure every state is different, but I doubt it varies TOOOO much.

Goes on your permanent record, can affect insurance premiums, you pay money.

Just a couple points, and if you go two years without anymore it gets stricken. That's how it is up here in Canada at least. I figure by the time I'm 62 I should be home free.

as long as u were not caught over 25mph over...its pretty much a slap on the wrist, since u can plea bargain it to a lesser offence. anything higher than 25mph over...een a plea bargain will get some hefty punishment.

It costs you money. Then it costs you more money.

You pay the fine, then you take a hit on your insurance bill. I think the idea is to reinforce the concept of not speeding. :)

If you don't have a lot of tickets, you can cut the financial hemorrhaging by attending traffic school. You pay for the traffic school and the fine, but you don't get the ding on your driving record. In California, you can even do that on line. :)

Depends on the state. I was caught going 80 in a 50 (very unusual driving for me... I couldn't believe it when I looked down, and then the lights flicked on). I got out of it with a ticket for double parking, but the fine tripled and I shelled out close to $500 for it. No insurance record though...

Typically most counties will let you get out of one ticket every two or three years by doubling the fine. Depending on which county and how hard up they are for money, they may let you do it more often. I've had 2 speeding tickets, and it both cases was able to get out of them by paying more money. However, I haven't had anything go on my insurance record since high school. Pretty soon I should be able to qualify for a good driver discount. He he he...

driving 10 miles over speed limit is 100ish bucks :( * *

Its pretty serious but not as serious as getting pulled over for a red light....thats 300 bucks.

Thats a price of P4 if you were to get 1...

That really sux. I am always going 10-15 over. And I mean ALWAYS. I have never been caught, but almost got caught for going 55 in a 30, but I kinda got away (car had some nice power). The fine wouldn't bother me as much as points on the licence. I don't think I'll ever have a problem of too many points or anything, but just more the insurance premiums. I just wish they would abolish the speed limit & impose a "sensible speed" limit. Like if you're going 50 through a residential neighborhood you should get a ticket, but if you're going 80 on the interstate (in no traffic) that's more acceptable. The problem with current speed limits is they are figured for HEAVY traffic and poor weather conditions. It also gives drivers a false sense of security if they are going too fast, but are still under the speed limit (example: snowy conditions).

Death by hanging was the worse I've seen, but it varies...

No penalties at all for a speeding ticket. Just get a lawyer, and have the lawyer get you out of it. Simple, and it will cost you about a hundred bucks or less.

It really depends greatly on where you live. Southern states tend to be really lenient in ,y experience,as i've been ticketed in about every state on the east coast.

In SoCal, the fine depends on how much you sped.
If they say you're going over 80mph, you also get 2 points in addition to the fine. This means you can't goto traffic school to remove the points.
Otherwise you only get 1 point.
Then you can complete traffic school to remove it and have it unaffected on your insurance.

At least that's what I remember...
