Good question. I would guess the SP1 machine has all the updates up until SP1 installed and the same goes for the SP2 machine. Otherwise, the article doesn't seem to explicitly state so.

That's why I'm wondering. The article makes it sound like unless you have SP2 there's nothing you can do and your computer will become infected within moments of going online. However if I have SP1 and all the updates since then (just not SP2), I'm still a hell of a lot more secure than this article would make it seem.

Gotta love journalism with vague facts.
