How secure are P2P programs like Limewire? Can you really restrict folders, etc..?!

Hi,

I haven't used any P2P programs before and I was thinking about installing Limewire since it gets so many good reviews. However I am wondering how secure those P2P programs like Limewire are? Don't they allow easy access for hackers to get into your PC, to get viruses in your PC, etc.. or do I worry too much?

Also, is there a difference in security between those P2P programs, like how safe is Limewire compared to similar P2P programs?!

Also, is it possible to restrict the folders that can be accessed by others and even completely disable that somebody else downloads from your PC if you want in Limewire (turn off file sharing)?! Is Kazaa Lite better then Limewire as I believe it allows to completely turn off file sharing if you want or can Limewire do this also?! If I want all this, should I get Limewire or another one?!

Thanks for all good info!

Cheers, Mike.

Limewire = spyware, don't install the crap

Nothing is safe, full of spyware and viruses. Filesharing software shouldn't be discussed here.

What? Why? I have seen numerous discussions on Torrents and Torrent clients.
