how safe is it to run a Laptop with no fan?

I just bought this used laptop and the fan does not work at all? It feals hot on the bottem of the laptop. Is this ok? I know heat kills.

my dad has a Pentium 233mhz dell laptop, the fan doesn't work but i can play games on it just fine. i guess it depends on how hot it gets

Yeah I guess so. But there is really no way to measure how hot it really is inside there, Unless I insert a small heat Probe.

why don't you just get a laptop cooler where you can insert it into the PC cards slot.

My laptop at work has a fan, but it never comes on. It doesn't want to work with NT...dunno why, all the power stuff is installed. All laptops get hot...it's a fact of life. It can't hurt them...they're made to take stuff like that.
