How safe is it to do this?

I'm sure we've all seen someone drive one or two wheels up the curb instead of using a jack and jack stands to get under the car. I personally would never do this but I'm thinking as long as it's not on an incline and parking brake applied it should be relatively safe right? One thing is for sure, it's extremely ghetto.

I have never seen this. I would assume it is just as safe as crawling under the car, you just have more room this way....

Do you think it's more likely for the jack stand to kick out, or the curb to collapse? Seems structurally fine.

More dangerous that working off the street though, if a car hit your car with you underneath it I can only assume it would suck.

Mostly correct, except a jack stand isn't on the tires, so you need to add in parking break and/or automatic transmission park failure too ;)

Frankly, it's probably about the same as using a good set of ramps as far as safety goes, though ramps do have benefits in that they're higher, and also concave so even if the wheels weren't locked, it requires some energy to start the vehicle rolling to make it roll off.

using the curb in general is a ghetto way but works great. But as mentioned before, a car hitting you or running over your leg can really be costly.

I would easily use it if i was in a pinch and had to tighten something up really quick.
