We are poor middle class because only one of us is working, I have to wait for immigration to make up its mind on whether i can work or not. Once we do that we'll be WAY better off.

We have to factor in demographic effect.

I said none of the above, because I'm a student. So right now I'm poor, but I consider my family to be above average...so it's in the middle I guess.

We were doing well, maybe high side of the middle class. Then came the lay-off with wife 4 months prego. So now, I found a (lesser paying by about 10k/yr) job, wife isn't working, and we've got a second baby!

We did inherit a vehicle, so we sold one (my baby ) and were able to put $8k in savings. That was back in late feb, early march. Down to about $4500 now :Q Needless to say, wife is going back to working 1 day a week at the bank (she's been there for 5 years) and finding something to do a couple nights a week.

Rough, has been, this year.

I'm poor . considering the fact that I live in California. Although combining two salaries we are well over 120K/year..... but we can't seem to make enough to afford a house . Damn all the CEOs and retired old folks for buying up all the houses around my area.

Well, I can't go out and blow money on expensive food too much, or drive a beamer, but I make enough to pay for a mortgage, own a new boat, drive a 5 year old car, and can go online and buy any dvds or computer hardware I need. Gonna buy a video projector and build a home theater later this year.

those that have jobs, really high unemployment in CA compared to the rest of the company. And people making 100k a year live out of their cars in SF.
