They arent? That's odd. What makes more sense....that they are lying to their own fraternity brothers because of some grand conspiracy keeping them stifled, or that they are speaking their minds?

Common sense son....get some.

Also, the person that was on the missile inspection team is no longer with that group.....and is not military, he's civilian. He cant be court-martialed.

sure, your little story holds a lot of credibility in a internet forum
"I knew these guys and like they are sooooo tough, yeah and they said iraq rulez dude, they were there maaaaan!"
IF your friends were there they are scared kids talking big. You have say what you can to make it through the days.

] Yeah right, the soldiers signed up because they wanted to risk life and limb to liberate third world countries around the globe from Tyranny:roll:

some of them probably did, but the reasons are varried. The point is, they knew what they were getting into.
WTF does your point have to do with this thread? Before your rant nobody even mentioned our soldiers in this thread. I created this thread just to lighten the mood here as it made fun of both Democrats and Republicans. If we can't laugh at ourselves then it is a pretty sad state of affairs.

As does your opinion steeplerot, right?

I never said they were "tough" or that they said "Iraq rulez"

I simply said that I prefer to trust the observations of the conditions in Iraq from my own friends and acquaintances that have actually been there as opposed to the media who have an agenda (making money).

What media? there is no media reporting what is going on anymore. (Not counting the bush-parroting US media propaganda machine.)

steeplerot, I hardely think that a link to Al Basrah's site is at all relevant. Thats just propaganda in the other direction.

You don't know how those people were injured, but many of them were being treated with american technology, and (possibibly) by americans

So all the media are Bush puppets?

Yes Steeplerot, your worst fears are true. America is controlled by the religious right. We are coming for you and all that oppose us. In fact, we are plotting the domination of the entire world right now.

soon....yes soon it shall come to pass and all heathens shall be destroyed in the glorious rightousness that is Bush.

:disgust:

Well it's painfully obvious that we can't laugh at ourselves. Maybe that's what's wrong with America/Americans, we take ourselves too seriously

I laughed at the original post....was hilarious.

I also laugh at every republican and liberal joke, funny is funny.

...and ya, I agree Red Dawn...people nowdays take themselves way too seriously. You know what I do when someone does something "offensive"? I ignore it, because honestly i'm more worried about my own actions and what i'm doing than what someone else is doing.

But hey, that's just me.

Why did you start in about our soldiers and such when the subject wasn't even brooched until you said something?

sorry red dawn, but it was actually you who started it

when you said this

Wow, support an Administration that made them amputees and then try to clear your conscience by donating money to help them deal with the horror that same Administration inflicted on them by donating money to them.

You can thank the current infatuation with 'PC' for this trend.

Centinel, I'm in the same boat man. I have several college friends and one fraternity brother who is in Iraq right now. I've seen him a couple of times during his duty leave and he has told me much the same. He paints a much brighter picture than the one painted by the media.

Fingolfin269:

Be carfeful...you may fall prey to the military brainwashing by the nazi bush regime that obviously has gotten to your friends in Iraq.

There's no way that they could be telling the truth, because there is only one Truth and that is America is evil, Bush is satan, and all conservatives are stupid.

To the OP:  I laughed at the jabs at both sides

To almost everyone else in this thread: Learn to laugh at yourself. Everyone else is.

I'm not on any wing - I just think it's a lame attempt at humor and not really useful to anyone. This country (and I've noticed this forum as well) is divided enough as it is.

I'm a Libertarian, so I really dont have much of a personal stake in the R vs D pissing matches. However, a fair bit of the above was funny. The first post was better than the second, IMO, but the second probably would be funnier if I remembered more of the "Twelve Days of Christmas". Besides, it does point out areas were we are all the same:
"Democratic men like to watch football while their wives, girlfriends, or
mothers fix holiday meals.
On this, Republicans are in full agreement."

Really, I dont think jokes are going to harm or help much. And I think this forum is much more divided than America in general.

I can't help but feel like this forum is just as divided as America is - it's just not often in the real world that you get this kind of mixture going so things can get started up.

Once again, the troop vollunterred to fight in this war. They signed up knowing that injury and death were a possibility. They were proud to fight for their country and they are fighting for a VERY worthwhile cause.

Just because they voulunteered and are proud doesn't mean in't a worthwhile cause.

Are we going to liberate every dictatorship/evil regime in the world? See how many people voulunter to do that.

Hey I just finished watching its a wonderful life. I enjoyed the movie, and I am VERY republican.

I fail to see how it is so terribly leftist, the main expression of the movie is the impact that a single life has on everyone.

By supporting a decrease of governemt involvement in economic affairs, Repulicans are not promoting a skrewing of the people. We merely realize that the governemt is not capable of helping the people through regulation. There is nothing wrong with people like George from the movie who are willing to go out of their way to help others. Any republican who says that people should not help one another is callus. The point is that both parties want to help the people, they just disagree on how to do it.

What I want to know is this: Where in the hell did all the Republicans who support a decrease in government involvement in economic affairs go? They sure as hell aren't in the Administration OR the Congress right now! 🙂

If the troops were so heroic and high and mighty they would tell bush to take a hike and come home.
They are making Iraq far worse by their continued agitation of the situation.
They know it bush kows it too bad foxnews hasen't shown YOU the mess bush got us into.
You really need a wake-up call, hang out grab some coffee sit back and learn the horrible truth of what you support by giving legitamcy to the bullying of a soverign nation.

Iraq was NOT a Sovereign Nation. Iraq was a country ruled by a vicious TYRANT who slaughtered the people as he pleased without anyone standing up against him. Those who TRIED to stand against him met a grisly fate, even if they amounted to nothing more than CHILDREN who didn't want to be Baathists.

Iraq was NOT a sovereign nation. Once this conflict is over, they have a chance to BECOME one. Let's hope they take it, and let's hope they do NOT cow down to the terrorists who are now running around blowing up everything in sight.
